Painting sketch: Open vagina?

This was a random idea I had this morning: Can an open aroused vagina offer an erotic image within its shapes and colours? Sorry about the quality of the photo and bear in mind, it is only a sketch. The idea may not have any future use or purpose but we must explore and test all our ideas and creative impulses, for they may have future value.

Starting from the point of view that an open aroused vagina is sexy in its self, with its flushed colours of reds and pinks and soft curves of flesh,  lend very well to finding an erotic body form? There is the case in point, that the viewer will find what they choose to find within the image, due to their own value on what can be deemed tasteful.

I put down various colours in a rather quick random fashion, with the idea of painting the open vagina, yet I soon “found” the erotic image of a woman kneeling on the ground with her arse and open vagina push up in the air in a wanton state of arousal. The exposed clit of the aroused vagina now becomes the open vagina within the erotic image; folds of flesh within the legs now become the arms of the woman.

How realistic or how abstract the image should be, is something for future consideration. As an idea, I think it has purpose. What if we consider the open vagina as the cave into which we enter for an erotic experience? What about a floor to ceiling paint of a huge open vagina, whereby you can feel like falling into its folds? Is a painting larger than life and over-scaled more powerful? What about the open vagina painted onto the wall surrounding a door frame into the bedroom? Every vagina is unique, in shape, size and colours – does this mean each vagina can offer a different erotic image to be found?  The ideas may seem cheap, odd, distasteful or bizarre and not of normal conservative thought, yet they should be explored, for in the future they may not seem such a bad idea after all.

Remember, it was only a random thought, tried out within the creative process of the mind, realised onto canvas.

Marks…to Erotic Art

For me, creating Art comes before the subject matter. I love the drama during the course of creating Art: How the different materials, transform from random mark placement to recognised forms of the human body, whether realistic or otherwise. It is the mess and sounds of the work in progress that adds to the experience of being an Artist.

For me, the human “animal” within the sexual arena allowed me to best connect the subject matter to the experience of being an Artist: There is the gradual build up of the image, to point of a state of transformation that can be deemed completion – the orgasmic state, whereby you have reached a high level of awareness but there is the underlying need for more (to add more to the work, or settle for the experienced gained so far).

The human body in a state of pose is a glory to look at but it is not what I would consider an experience to be a part of, or offer the mind the suggestion of living the experience. Which is why I paint and draw the sexual act, for the human body in various states of arousal and movement offers more colour, more variety of shape structures. How you make your marks, slow/soft, hard/fast can give the suggestion of the beginning, middle or end stages of the sexual act – it just offers more ingredients to explore within the mark making process of creating Art. Are the red, inflamed states of our body parts more interesting to view and experience, than the relaxed state of them in pose?

I have considered drawing from life, to have people pose for me but would people pose in high states of arousal or the ultimate question, would they pose within the sexual arena or commission such a work?

Art: Creating, destroying and reinventing.

I have continued to work on my current painting today. I recognised the fact that I was giving the painting too much consideration. What do I mean by this? I like to work fast, allowing my eyes to make judgements on the spacial arrangement of colours and the marks made by instinct, rather than any preconceived plan of approach. I was starting to think too much about the paint placement in relation to the different areas in advance rather than just putting paint to canvas to see what happened.

We all have times when we are scared to make marks on the canvas, with the dread of making a mistake; I overcome this by not recognising mistakes but see them as alternative ways of pushing the art in a different direction, if only on that particular painting. I will often put a random colour or set of marks on the painting, to ”erase” the progress of the work – taking the painting back to its basic level. That is how I gain the control of the painting: You should recognise you are the Mistress/Master of your creative outpourings. If the painting fails to behave – spank it with paint, of a colour it does not like, and it will shut up and listen.

To demonstrate that growth in my creative process comes by having a carefree attitude to my approach, I produced the following painting in 45mins using only the paint colours leftover on the palette. I will finish the painting tomorrow.

Painting in progress.

This is how I left this painting a few months ago, with the main construction of shapes and colours established.

Yesterday, I revisited the painting. Rather than trying to pick up from where I left off, I put paint to canvas using different colours and with a rougher style of brush work. The only considered thought in regard to how the work should progress, was that the painting had a reflection of the fast, hard thrusting of the beast entering the woman.

I will be continuing with the painting today. I hope it will be finished this weekend.

2 Erotic scribbles

With no aim, scribbles done with pen marks are transformed into the erotic suggestion. The movement of the human body within the hight of sexual frenzy allows a greater latitude for how the human figure is drawn.

Erotic (?) drawing: “Wank”.

It is what it is! Would it make a good painting?

With a limited time, the marks made are more urgent and the accidental suggestion of the erotic can be stronger than when given greater consideration.

Drawing the erotic suggestion.

I often can see the sexual/erotic image on the surface before the marks have been made. After very few marks the visualisation of the erotic can be seen and sometimes I stop the drawing at this stage, letting the completion of the image to be undertaken by the viewer.

Erotic Scribble

I love to do scribbles in my sketch book using pen. Sometimes, letting the pen glide across the surface rather than pushing hard down onto it produces a more sensual line. I like how random isolated marks can give the suggestion to the flying of body sweat or the orgasmic release. I love how the right-side of the drawing suggests her leg movement as she glides up and down the shaft – or is that just me?
